Father Forgive Me for I have Sinned

Written and performed by José Roldan Jr.

Directed by Dante Albertie

Father Forgive Me For I Have Sinned” is an autobiographical, coming-of-age story about a Latino boy who grows up in the South Bronx in New York City during the 1980’s and ’90’s. In a moving performance he straddles the inner struggles of being a gay man while defying negative cultural stereotypes about his sexual identity. He channels some of his most memorable family members that cover the gamut from his sister, a freestyle drama queen from the Bronx to his Bruja Tia (Auntie Witchie-pooh) who has mastered the art of how to keep a man and his quintessentially macho father, as well as his off-the-wall, fire-spitting Puerto Rican mother. José gives you his NYC Latino version of All in the Family sprinkled with South Bronx soul and riotous clashes set in a family living room. Ultimately and inspiringly so, there’s self-acceptance. Written and Performed by José Roldan Jr and Directed by Dante Albertie.
